Drupal is a free and open-source Content Management System (CMS) framework. It is written in the PHP language. It is developed by Dries Buytaerti and was initially released on 15 January 2001. Drupal provides a Front-end framework and is used on millions of sites such as political sites, World Economic Forum, University sites, government sites, etc. It helps us to organize, managing and publishing the content. Systems can also use Drupal for business collaboration and knowledge management. This software is licensed under the General Public License (GNU), which means that everyone can download and share it with other users.

WordPress is a free and open-source content management system (CMS). It is written in PHP and connected with MySQL or MariaDB database. It was developed primarily as a blogging tool but has now evolved into a flexible CMS. It can be used to create a blog, website, and mobile applications. It is also used to create an online store using WordPress plugins.

WordPress is one of the most popular content management system (CMS) solutions in use. It is used by more than 60 million websites, including 34% of the top 10 million websites until 2019.

WordPress is developed by its founders, American developer Matt Mullenweg and English developer Mike Little. It was initially released on 27 May 2003. This software is licensed under the General Public License (GNU).

  • WordPress is more SEO friendly, despite the large-scale availability of plugins. Drupal is less SEO friendly than WordPress.
  • In WordPress, updating content means that adding, deleting, or editing is much easier. The same is difficult about WordPress in Drupal.
  • WordPress takes less time to create and upgrade the website and also provides better efficiency. Whereas Drupal takes more time to create and upgrade the website, and its performance is less than WordPress.
  • WordPress has an issue of size, as it is initially meant only for blogs. It can’t handle a significant amount of content. Drupal has no size problems; it can accommodate a huge amount of data for the website with ease.
  • WordPress has fewer features and options. Drupal has a wide range of features that are very useful to create multi-page websites.
  • Due to the use of many plugins, WordPress has less security. Whereas Drupal provides good security than WordPress.
  • WordPress is less expensive because of the availability of free themes and plugins. Drupal is more expensive than WordPress since themes need to be purchased at a higher cost.
  • There is less learning curve of WordPress. Drupal needed a lot more to learn about creating a website compared to WordPress.
